DSK WOMENS TEAM TRAINING: WEEK 2 6/11/23
This week was quite complicated but very easy once you understood the task. We started of with a fielding drill where we had to run out and attack the ball and over- arm throw at the stumps and then run to the next cone It was pretty fun but confusing at the same time . Then we moved on to the next set up area. The way it worked was that there was four teams and the had to run to the cone throw the tennis ball in the air and clap then set it back down on said cone and run back to your team I had to go twice for my group it wasn't too bad. After that we did this thing where you stood in a triangle and one person was in the middle and someone shouted out the colour of the cone you where stationed at then you waited for the person in the middle to face you then you threw the ball to them it was quite simple. Then we did this in which there was two teams a batting and fielding team. I you were on the fielding team a ball was rolled out to you, you had to attack it then throw it back to the wicket, if you were on the fielding team you had a bat and as soon as the ball as rolled to had to run with the bat to a cone and back before you got run out. The final thing we did was that super duper fun game from last week.
Question 1: How does it feel to be ladies team captain?
"Very strange. Because I have never been captain of anything but I'm quite dedicated for it cause iam interested in it. Being part of the Youth Academy has gave me a enlighten to it. I kinda don't mind being a wee leader for the team. Hopefully everybody likes it but I'm sure that all could change if we get established and get sorted, we can have a toss up if It doesn't we will see if somebody is suited for it ."
Question 2: Do you enjoy cricket?
"I didn't, I would have probably got into it in the last five or six years now. I like the 2020 aspect of it, I like the colours instead of the whites games or the long sort of ashes or anything but I do like the sort of evening cricket. I have watched a bit of the world cup and the women's as well which is quite interesting. Its quite surprising how it is 'up and coming'. And my husband would watch a lot of it as well, whether iam watching it or not its always in the back ground so there is a bit of history with it."
Question 3: Would you recommend it to a friend who has never played before?
"I am, Iam trying and I would. It is interesting. I think getting a bit later on in years, but iam pleased that I got my daughters involved with it, which is great. And I'm starting to see the interesting side of it, when I grew up it was quite a long, boring, mans game and I took all-day to do it. I'm seeing the fun aspect of it which is quite nice to be part of. And to sort of being engaged with it."
Question 4: What to you think of our coaches we have?
"I think they have all engaged in us really, really, well. I'm pleased that they are wanting to help is and actually push for a ladies team, I'm pleased with the actual outcome every Monday night, that you know between the girls and the ladies that are here to pay it and onwards and upwards with it"
Question 5: How far do you think cricket in Drumaness can go in the future?
" For the last 10 years from what I have experienced i think it has come on a awful lot because I know that they got relegated which was a bit sad cause it kinda took away a bit of community sense, In which parents know that we would have been hanging around on a Saturday of whatever. But for where its to go far, sky's the limit, but the boys have done that themselves by entering section one and hopefully the women could be part of that as well."
